Alan M. Hantman, FAIA, was nominated as Architect of the Capitol by President William Jefferson Clinton on January 6, 1997 and confirmed by the Senate on January 30, 1997. Major construction during Hantman's term include the Capitol Visitor Center and an underground addition to the Supreme Court building.
