George M. White, FAIA, was appointed Architect of the Capitol by President Richard Nixon on January 27, 1971. During White's tenure he oversaw construction of the Library of Congress James Madison Memorial Building, the Hart Senate office Building and the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building.
